UK's largest land drainage pumping station reaches final stage

KWT's penstocks, valves and stop logs are being lowered in position in week 4, 2010

The huge penstocks, valves and stop logs that KWT supplied over the last several months are being put in position as UK's largest land drainage pumping station reaches its final stage.

Birse Water, a division of Balfour Beatty, is responsible for getting the gates and stop log frames into position, using local contractors for the actual installation. Aquatic Control Engineering, KWT's exclusive distributor in the UK, also supply the 6 hydraulic cylinders and 3 power packs for controlling the penstocks.

On 27 January, 2010, the first of 6 valves was lowered into position. Two more lie in the pit, waiting to be lifted. On 29 January, all was installed. Great job done!
